Hi quilting friends,

Come on over on Monday, October 17, 2022, to help us make quilts in the KMVT workroom from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. You will need to knock hard on the door, so we can let you in to spend some time with us.

We received a letter of thanks from Valley House Executive Director, John Spears. Here is part of what he wrote:
Thank you so much for your in-kind donation of 3 full/queen quilts, 8 twin quilts, 13 laundry bags, and 66 pillowcases. We appreciate you so much! This is truly a blessing for you to help us in this way!! 🙂

We still have a lot of quilt kits and fat quarters with patterns for you to choose from. We have cut many 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 inch squares, and we have many different patterns to choose from in making a quilt top.

ANNOUNCEMENT: It has been over two years since we could all get together to tie quilts in a big way. We have been able to schedule the KMVT Community Room that we used to use for our Tie Days in the past. The days we plan to get together to tie quilts are November 2 and 3 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We have lots of kits ready to go onto the frames. Bring your friends and family. Anyone who can tie a square knot is welcome to tie. AND if you can’t tie a square knot, we will teach you. Let’s tie quilts!!

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through November:

Monday, October 17

Wednesday, November 2, and Thursday, November 3, for our Tie Days

Hi quilting friends,

We will be working on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in the KMVT workroom from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.You will need to knock hard on the door, so we can let you in to spend some time with us.

Do you like to tie quilts? Have we got a deal for you. There are quilts on our shelves that are begging to be tied. We have all sizes. If you would like to tie with your group away from our site, we can arrange for you to use our frames and provide you with a kit that contains a top, back, batting, and even binding and label.

We want to thank Wills Toyota for their generous donation to Community Quilts. We will be using those funds to buy batting. We have many quilt tops that need to be made into quilts because all of you have been so generous with your time in making the tops. Wills Toyota’s donation will make that possible.

We like to provide the NICU at St. Luke’s with Christmas quilts for their use during the holiday season. If you would like to participate in this project, please pick up some Christmas fabrics from us. We have a lot of fabrics and patterns to choose from. Please make the quilts no smaller than: 42-45″ by 42-45″ square. They will cover an isolette well at those sizes. We like to have Christmas pillowcases to provide our clients as well. It’s fun to choose from the many fabrics we have for these projects.

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through November:

Wednesday, October 5, and Monday, October 17
Wednesday, November 2, and Monday, November 21.

The November dates are tentative. We will be scheduling our year-end delivery date soon.

Hi quilting friends,

We will be working on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in the KMVT workroom from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Knock hard on the door, so we can let you in to spend some time with us in our nice cool workspace along with other amazing quilters.

We will be delivering our quilts, laundry bags, pillowcases, and cuddle cloths on September 12 and 13. If you have any of our projects that are finished, please bring them on this coming Wednesday. We will be sorting some things in advance so the day of the delivery goes more quickly.

Our kit makers have turned their efforts toward flannel. Believe it or not, cooler days are on the way and folks will love to cuddle up in a flannel creation. If kits are not your thing, we have many yards of flannel fabric to make creative juices flow. We have lots of patterns for you to look through to find one that appeals to you.

Also, our cut squares have been organized into tubs in the following sizes: 2 1/2″, 3 1/2″, 4 1/2″, 5″, 6 1/2″ and 8 1/2″. Using a four patch of one size and a square of another that measures the same as the finished four patch is an easy way to create a happy quilt top. Just alternate the two throughout the quilt using a lot of different colors. We have many different fabrics to use for the border to bring it up to a size we like.

We are tying quilts every meeting and would love to have you join us. It’s always fun to see the beautiful tops go on the frames to become beautiful quilts for giving. if you know of a longarm quilter who would volunteer to complete some of our quilts, please let us know.

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through October:

Wednesday, September 7, and Monday, September 19,
Wednesday, October 5, and Monday, October 17.

Our times are from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Join us when you can. We are more than a quilt group; we are a group of quilters who love to get together and chat.

Hi Quilting Friends,

We will be working on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in the KMVT workroom from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Knock hard on the door, so we can let you in to spend some time with us in our nice cool workspace along with other amazing quilters.

We had planned to be delivering in August, but family obligations for some of our leaders have made it necessary to move our date to September. We will need projects to be delivered as soon as possible, so they will be ready to go when the date is known.

We received a nice thank you note from Ageless Seniors Citizens of Kimberly. They thanked us for the quilt that Kathy Groves put together using embroidered flower blocks from one of the donations we received recently. The note said, ” The yellow color was very eye catching, and the design perfect for most anyone. We are so pleased with the turnout for our raffle! Your hard work brought in an overall donation of $700.00 to help with the needs at our senior center.”

We are tying quilts every meeting and would love to have you join us. It’s always fun to see the beautiful tops go on the frames to become beautiful quilts for giving.

Don’t forget to check our Facebook pages and website for pictures of quilts that have been made for Community Quilts. It’s fun to see what can be made from our stash of fabric and panels.

It’s official. Susan and Dan Stallings have bought a house in Utah. They will be near four of their children and their families, so there will be lots of Grandma and Grandpa love to share. We will miss our friends, but wish them well in their new adventure. Here is their new address: 3241 So 550 West, Syracuse, Utah 84075. “I would love to hear from my dear quilting friends,” wrote Susan.

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through September:
Wednesday, August 3, and Monday, August 15,
Wednesday, September 7, and Monday, September 19.

CQ News July 15, 2022

Hi Quilters,

We will be working on Monday, July 15, 2022, in the KMVT workroom from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Knock hard on the door, so we can let you in to spend some time with us in our nice cool workspace along with other amazing quilters.

Your help is greatly appreciated as we work toward completing quilts for another delivery day. We will be delivering in August, so any projects need to be completed and returned to us by the first meeting date that month (August 3).

An interesting project for individuals or groups might be completing some already cut fleece blankets by tying their edges. Anyone who can tie a square knot can make these blankets. Another idea is to take some of our grand stash of florals to create a top. The bin of panels is overflowing. These could be made into simple quilts.

Reminder: please check the size charts for quilts we like to distribute. Small quilts should be at least 42 inches square. They are used to cover the isolettes in the NICU. Smaller quilts don’t work as well to protect the babies’ eyes.

Don’t forget to check our Facebook pages and website for pictures of quilts that have been made for Community Quilts. It’s fun to see what can be made from our stash of fabric and panels.

We received a nice note from Northstar IHSS. Christine wrote, “We thank you for the quilts, cases, and laundry bags. We have distributed many already to families in need. What a blessing.”

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through September:
Monday, July 18,
Wednesday, August 3, and Monday, August 15,
Wednesday, September 7, and Monday, September 19.

CQ News July 1, 2022

Hi Quilters,

Can you believe that half of this year is already gone? We will be working on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in the KMVT workroom from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. We still need you to knock hard on the door, so we can let you in to spend some time with us.

We have lots of fabric all sorted and ready to go. You can use your imagination or use one of our kits. We have lots of them ready to go, too.

There is a box of fat quarters, and there are quilt patterns that call for just that size of fabric. We also have many, many 2 1/2 inch strips that can be incorporated into a new top.

The box for binding is overflowing. The folks have been working hard at tying quilts to ready for their bindings. But, guess what? We still have lots of kits ready for tying, so we need lots of folks to tie. We are tying about eight quilts a session, but we could do more.

We are planning to schedule a distribution sometime in August. So we need to have things ready to go by then.

Machine quilters can pick up quilts on Wednesday at KMVT, or check at Twin Falls Sewing Center for kits to longarm and pillowcases to make. The quilts in our box at TFSC are smaller sizes that are just right for beginners.

Susan Stallings, our mentor, great quilter, and friend, will be moving with Dan to be nearer their children who live in Utah. Many of your know that she has been working with Community Quilts for over 20 years. She will be missed as her leadership has been amazing. We wish her luck and will enjoy the time we have with her until their house sells and the move is complete.

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through August:
Wednesday, July 6, and Monday, July 18,
Wednesday, August 3, and Monday, August 15.

CQ News June 17, 2022

Hi Quilters,

Are you ready to make quilts? Join us on Monday, June 20, 2022, in the KMVT workroom. We will be there from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM to do our work. We still need you to knock hard on the door, so we can let you in to spend some time with us.

Our kids’ fabric box is overflowing. Indeed, it is more than one box. Since we always need infant quilts and youth quilts, please choose some cute fabric, or a panel, and make a great contribution to our stash of giveaways. The kids will love whatever you create. They are easy to please.

Sharon, our latest contributor, has made an amazing donation of fabrics, batting, and yarn. Phyllis and Gordon have made more than one trip to gather the donation. So, if you like to sort, there will be a job for you on Monday. There are also partially completed quilts if you’d like to finish up something that has been started. And, if you like to embroider, there are pillowcases to make beautiful.

Carolyn has moved the box of orphan blocks next to her poster of suggested designs. We have lots of fabrics that can be added to these blocks to make a nice quilt top.

There is a box of fat quarters and there are quilt patterns that call for just that size of fabric. We also have many, many 2 1/2 inch strips that can be incorporated into a new top.

Plus, if you don’t want to make up an idea on your own, our kit makers have many choices for you to look at and choose a new project.

We appreciate all of you who donate your time and talents to help us make Community Quilts so successful. All of us working together can create many beautiful and useful projects. It’s fun to see an idea come together with someone choosing a fabric, others helping choose coordinates and a pattern. Thank you all for being part of something good.

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through July:
Monday, June 20,
Wednesday, July 6, and Monday, July 18.

CQ News May 28, 2022

Hi Quilters,

We are ready to meet from 10:00 until 4:00 on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in the KMVT work room. Drop by for an hour or two, or for the day. Knock hard on the door, so we know you are there.

We worked very hard our last time together creating kits to be tied. There are a lot of them in all sizes. Can you help us tie? The “Bind Me” box will have lots of work to be done as well.

Karen, a friend of Community Quilts, is moving; so, she is cleaning out her sewing room and donating fabric to us. She also has donated several quilts she has started, but not finished. We are in the process of finishing these lovely quilts. We appreciate her generosity.

We thank Charity Anywhere for donating several bolts of wide back fabric. Two are red and white. So, we are calling everyone who would like to create a quilt that will need a red back using this beautiful Riley Blake fabric.

We thank Julia’s friend, Paula, for donating finished quilts for us to give. They are beautifully made and will be a joy for folks to own and use.

Our kit-makers have spent a day creating new kits for you to choose from to make a quilt top. There are many colors and styles of quilts in easy-to-use patterns. Would you like to try one? Ask to see the box of kits.

Would you like to see some quilts made for CQ? Check our website and our Facebook page. Carolyn has taken lots of pictures.

Twin Falls Sewing Center has a box of quilt kits ready to be machine quilted. These are small quilts that could allow practice space for trying new techniques or for new longarm quilters to learn their machines. There are also pillowcase kits to take and make.

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through July:
Wednesday June 1, and Monday, June 20,
Wednesday, July 6, and Monday, July 18.
