Hi quilting friends,

We will meet on Monday, March 20, 2023. Plan to come any time between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM at KMVT in our workroom.

Drop by and see how we have reorganized our workspaces. We bought some new shelving. We remember when we were first given our space at KMVT. We had a designated space of four feet out from the east wall. That was it! Phyllis said we would work our way into more space, and she was right.

We have received an anonymous donation of flannel, batting, and several baby panels. Combined with our large selection of children’s fabrics, there is a quilt somewhere that needs your imagination to be created.

We want to thank Judy Snider for completing several embroidery projects that were donated to Community Quilts. We appreciate everyone who lends their expertise to us in order to make donated projects come alive.

We will be meeting in our workroom at KMVT on the following dates (first Wednesday and third Monday):

We will meet on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Plan to come any time between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM at KMVT in our workroom.

We want to give a huge thank you to William C. Watt of Gem State Welding Supply for a very generous financial donation. We appreciate the help our community extends to us to do our charitable work.

We have some new subscribers, so we will include this size chart for their benefit. We appreciate your help in using these sizes.

Hi quilting friends,

Our tying days were a grand success. We managed to tie 31 quilts. Plus, it was a nice time to visit and use the big room to set up the frames. It’s a lot of work to set it all up, but just see what we accomplished!

We will meet again this coming Monday, February 20, 2023. Plan to come any time between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM at KMVT in our workroom. We will have quilts ready to tie as well as all our usual jobs.

Thanks to Bill, who has donated his wife Sherrie’s quilting stash, we have more beautiful fabric to sort and enjoy. Sherrie had a nice feel for lovely fabric, and she included many in her collection which we have fallen heir to thanks to Bill.

We appreciate all the beautiful quilt tops you create for us. Here is the Size Recommendation Chart for help in choosing your desired quilt dimensions. Please use these sizes as we have asked our clients which sizes they can use and made the chart accordingly. We don’t need extremely long quilt tops. They are difficult to find fabric to make nice backs for and expensive to provide batting for, too.

Hi quilting friends,

We are ready to tie quilts. We have two days scheduled from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM at KMVT in the Community Room across from our workroom. We will meet on Wednesday, February 1, and Thursday, February 2, 2023. Please invite your friend to come and join us for an hour or two, or a day or two.

You should plan to bring your own lunch on Wednesday, but we are planning a potluck for Thursday, February 2. Community Quilts will provide water for
both days. We will also provide plates, napkins, and tableware on Thursday. We would like you to bring something to share with your fellow quilters on Thursday as well. We always have a good selection, so bring whatever you think would be nice for everyone.

Several people chose items from our overflowing box of children’s fabric and panels to make into children’s quilts. Somehow, it doesn’t seem to have reduced the size of the stash. So, please look to see if you could choose some fabrics to make a small quilt or two.

We are looking for someone to take the laundry bag section of our quilting. The bags are really simple to make and take only a yard of fabric. Also, there is a need to cut the fabric for the bags, so this could be another job possibility. We would love to have you take this over, but if you can’t make that commitment, and you can make some bags, that would be great,

If you can’t tie quilts, but are wondering if we will have all our usual activities, the answer is yes. Please come. We need to continue all our usual jobs, too.
We will be meeting at KMVT on the following dates:

Wednesday, February 1, and Thursday, February 2, for Tie Days
We are planning a potluck lunch on Thursday, February 2, 2023.
Please invite your friends to come and join us.

Hi quilting friends,

We will meet next Monday, January 16, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM in our workroom at KMVT. We look forward to seeing you there for the day or a few hours.

We have received another generous donation from the husband of one of our Community Quilters. Bill has donated fabric, batting, and miscellaneous quilting supplies from Sherrie’s estate to us in honor of her love for our group. We appreciate your generosity, Bill. We will make quilts this year using Sherrie’s beautiful fabric while remembering how much she loved to be part of our group.

We have an overflowing box of children’s fabric and panels to make into children’s quilts. AND we have an ongoing need for children’s quilts to donate to agencies that need them. Making small quilts is a great way to get going with quilting in the new year.

We are planning our Tying Days. Let your friends know that we are scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, and Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 10:00 until 4:00 in the Community Room at KMVT to tie quilts. We are making plans to have a pot luck on Thursday at noon on the 2nd. We will let you know more about it in our next newsletter.

Hi quilting friends,

We will start the New Year right by meeting on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Our day will end at 4:00 PM, so feel free to come anytime during those hours to join us for quilting and visiting together.

The Riley Blake fabric from the Carter family is beautiful. If you didn’t get a chance to see it in December, come and be inspired to create something from the many choices of fabrics. Riley Blake is always such nice feeling fabric.

We received some written thank-you letters over the holidays from the Department of Health and Welfare, and from Valley House. Both those agencies service children in need as well as their families. It’s nice to know we are helping those who need us.

Our last Tie-in Days were so successful that we have already scheduled a new set of days in February. Phyllis has cleared the days with KMVT, so we can use the big Community Room for tying. That gives us lots of room for frames. Let your friends know that we are scheduled for Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 10:00 until 4:00 to tie quilts.
We will be meeting at KMVT on the following dates:
Wednesday, January 4, 2023,
Monday, January 16, 2023,

Wednesday, February 1, and Thursday, February 2, for Tie Days
Monday, February, 20, 2023.

Hi quilting friends,

SURPRISE! We will meet on Monday, December 19, 2022, in the workroom at KMVT. This will really be the final meeting of 2022. If you can make it, we will see you then, but we know many folks are very busy with holiday preparations.

We received the Riley Blake fabric from the Carter family who operate Charity Anywhere. There were 18 full bolts. It’s lovely fabric that will add to our collection beautifully. We thank the Carter family for their continuing support of Community Quilts throughout our years of operation.

Susan Stallings received “an amazing phone call from Amanda at Health and Welfare (Family Services.)” She said that Amanda called “to say Thank You to all of the wonderful volunteers who provide quilts to Health and Welfare. Amanda said she keeps special quilts for the little ones as she works with 30 children under two.” She likes the soft ones as they seem to comfort them so much. The older children love the quilted ones. She has over 50 children. She also mentioned the burp cloths were so helpful for use with the babies. Susan said, “I wish you all could have heard her go on about how the quilts help to quiet and calm the children. Know that what you are all doing is so worthwhile, Take care. I miss you all, Susan.”

Susan also wrote to say she was thrilled with the quilt we all signed blocks for, and that she appreciated our thoughtfulness. She misses us, but is loving having family closer to enjoy more frequently than she had been able to do in the past. Carolyn is to be thanked for making this wonderful tribute possible.
WE did it again! Here is our Year-to-Date tally of items we have given in 2022:
625 Quilts
1081 Pillowcases
136 Laundry Bags
756 Cuddle Cloths
3 Table Runners
Way to sew, quilters!

We will be meeting at KMVT on the following dates:
Monday, December 19, 2022,
Wednesday, January 4, 2023,
Monday, January 16, 2023.

Hi quilting friends,

We will meet on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, in the workroom at KMVT. This will be a shorter day, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, so we have time to organize for our Distribution Day on Thursday, December 8, 2022. This will be our final meeting day for this year and our final distribution. If you have items that are ready for distribution, please be sure we get them on December 7, so they can be included.

We are happy to report that we will be receiving some beautiful Riley Blake fabric from the Carter family who operate Charity Anywhere. This is the organization that Susan Stallings has worked with in the past, and she is responsible for helping us with the contact this time as well. Thank you, Susan, for making this donation possible and for your continuing long-distance support of Community Quilts.

This is the time of year when we reflect on the wonderful people who make our work possible: YOU! Thank you for the time you spend helping us keep rolling along helping those who need us. Have a wonderful holiday season knowing you have made lives better by being who you are and doing what you do. Thank you.

We will be tallying the total yearly count for our quilts, pillowcases, laundry bags, and cuddle cloths after our distribution is completed. As soon as we can, we will report the numbers to you in a newsletter. Our Distribution Day will be on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT through next January:

Wednesday, December 7, 2022,
Wednesday, January 4, 2023,
Monday, January 16, 2023.

Hi quilting friends,

A wonderful success! That describes the two-day tying event Community Quilts held in the first part of November. There were lots of folks who came to tie, and the result was a record-setting number of completed quilts that were tied: 35 quilts. Thank you to everyone who made these days possible. We had several folks who were learning to tie for the first time, as well as many who have helped us in the past.

We will meet on Monday, November 21, 2022, in the workroom at KMVT. If we have enough folks to tie more than two quilts at a time, we will set up more frames in the Community Room. We want to tie as many quilts as we can for our final distribution day in December. As usual, knock on the door so we can let you in. We plan to work starting at 10:00 AM and work until about 4:00 PM.

The crew who creates kits for sewing worked last week, so there are new kits for you to choose from. Come and see what they have come up with for you to sew. The kits are all cut into the required pattern sizes. You will only need to sew them together according to the pattern.

Our bin of panels continues to grow. It’s an easy quilt to create. Let us help you find some complimentary colors to add for the borders, binding, and backs you find pleasing.

Carolyn wants you to know that you can access pictures of our activities and quilts. There are posts of pictures on Facebook that can be seen on the “About” tab on the website listed at the bottom of this newsletter. On the website, look to the bottom of the pictures, and you will find a link to “Load More” so you can see past posts of completed quilts we have donated.

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT into December:

Monday, November 21,
Wednesday, December 7.

Hi quilting friends,

We are ready to work again on Wednesday, November 2 and Thursday, November 3, 2022. It’s an exciting time to be able to host a grand tie-in once again! We will be starting at 10:00 AM and will work until 4:00 PM. We are scheduled to use the Community Room at KMVT for two days, so we will leave the frames up and start again on Thursday morning at 10:00. We are looking forward to seeing all of you as we try to reduce the number of kits that are ready to tie. There are a lot of them!

We still have a large selection of quilt kits that are all cut for you to choose from. The patterns are included with the kits of fabric.

The panels box is overflowing. A quilt top is an easy sewing project: just add borders until you like the size. It’s fun to take a panel and see what you can invent. Also, our floral bin is totally out of control. Making a floral quilt top with our patterns is an easy job. Choose some beautiful coordinating fabric from our stash to go with the florals, and there you have it.

ANNOUNCEMENT: It has been over two years since we could all get together to tie quilts in a big way. We have been able to schedule the KMVT Community Room that we used to use for our Tie Days in the past. The days we plan to get together to tie quilts are November 2 and 3 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We have lots of kits ready to go onto the frames. Bring your friends and family. Anyone who can tie a square knot is welcome to tie. AND if you can’t tie a square knot, we will teach you. Let’s tie quilts!!

Here is the schedule for the days we will be meeting at KMVT into December:

Wednesday, November 2, and Thursday, November 3, for our Tie Days
in the Community Room across from CQ’s workroom at KMVT

Monday, November 21,

Wednesday, December 7.
