Hi quilting friends,

We will meet this coming Monday, June 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM. Come when you can and stay as long as you have time for. We will be sorting and cutting a new donation as well as all our other jobs.

We tied 20 quilts during our two-day event. So, we have some quilts that need to be bound for those of you who help in that way. The boxes are overflowing with beautiful quilts ready to be finished for our neighbors who need them.

We appreciate a fabric donation from John Parkision from his sister’s estate. We can always use donations of 100% cotton fabrics whether quilting fabrics or flannels. They will be made into lovely tops by our great volunteers

We also want to tell you that Marc Holmstead, who administers the Maurice Bowers trust, has made a financial donation to us. We will be using it to buy batting for our future quilts.We thank the trust for this generous donation.

The door lock to the outside door at KMVT has been fixed. It works very well now. So, you can walk right into our area without having to pound on the door!

Hi quilting friends,

It’s time for our tying event. We will be working in the Community Room at KMVT this coming Wednesday and Thursday, June 5-6. We plan to have a pizza lunch on Thursday. We invite folks to bring a dessert or salad to add to the table. We will provide the plates and utensils. We look forward to tying lots of quilts. And… we are setting up tables for you to bring your sewing machine and sew along with us if you are not tying.

Our note of thanks this time comes from CASA who thanked us for our generosity. Susan Baca wrote, “Your donation made our foster parents feel recognized for the good work they do.”

We have lots of kits for you to choose from in making quilts for us. Our binding box has many quilts that need to be finished. There is an overflowing box of scraps that need to be cut into usable blocks.

If you are thinking of making a baby quilt for us, please look in the flannel section of our stash. There are wonderful pieces just waiting for a new family to love after they are made into a quilt.

Please tell the folks you know who would like to tie that we are happy to have more people join us when we tie, sew, or do other jobs next Wednesday and Thursday.

We will be meeting on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM for our regular workday. Please knock loudly on the door to have someone let you in.

We always appreciate receiving notes of thanks from folks who receive our quilts. This is a lovely note from Bonnie who received one of our quilts.
“I recently started chemo treatments at St. Luke’s in Twin Falls. I was pleasantly surprised when my nurse showed me the cupboard where I could pick out a handmade blanket to provide warmth and comfort. The quilted lap blanket I chose is absolutely beautiful. The cabin and tree design is so stunning and touches my heart. I am so impressed by the Community Quilts group and what they do for the community. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Future needs for those of you creating quilts include: bunks, infant, and youth sized quilts. We have a lot of kits for you to choose from.

We have scheduled a two-day tying event in the Community Room at KMVT. The days are Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6. There will be more information to follow. Please tell the folks you know who would like to tie that we are happy to have more people join us.

We will be meeting on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM for our regular workday. Please knock loudly on the door to have someone let you in. As of this writing, the broken lock on the Community Room door at KMVT is still just that, broken.

We thank all of you who helped us get ready to deliver our quilts and other things to the folks we serve. Here are the amazing numbers for our first delivery day this year:
225 quilts, 263 pillowcases, 69 laundry bags, 181 cuddle cloths. We are so pleased with those numbers. It should be a wonderful year of giving.

There are still a number of quilts to bind to get ready for our next delivery. We are always a work in progress!

Gordon and Phyllis have made a trip to Ogden to replenish our batting supply. We thank them for their continuing service to our community.

We will be meeting on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM for our regular workday. We will stop early in order to take down the tying frames and bring in the tables to sort the quilts by sizes. We need to get a count in order to fulfill our folks’ needs. We will have our Distribution Day on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

We thank all of you who have bound our many quilts. Please bring them in by Monday, April 15, 2024, so we can distribute them to our clients this week.

Speaking of binding…there are more quilts to bind. If you can help, please pick one up on Monday. It seems as quickly as we empty the Bind Me boxes, as if by quilting magic they fill up again.

We have many beautiful quilt kits just ready to be chosen by you. There are lots of choices, so feel free to come and browse in our supply. We have many pillowcase kits ready to be sewn, too.

More News! KMVT has scheduled another tying day for us on our Monday meeting day, March 18, 2024. The quilts are on in the Community Room for Saturday, and we will leave them through the weekend and continue tying all day Monday. So tell your friends we have more time to tie, and invite them to join us on Monday.

Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9:30 to noon, we will be hosting a tying day for a church group on their service day. We are really excited to have them come to tie and would like to have you join us in the Community Room.

We will be meeting next Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in our area at KMVT from 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM. We will be working at our usual jobs creating new quilts.

There are some quilts that can be bound remaining from our tying times. We can always use help in this department.

We have scheduled a special tying day on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9:30 AM until noon in the Community Room. We invite you to join us in tying along with other friends.

At Christmas time last year, we were able to contribute to an ongoing project some ladies have completed for several years. They buy 18 inch dolls and baby dolls for CASA to give to their foster kids. We made and contributed the wardrobes for those dolls. It will be a yearlong project that we would like you to help us with. We have patterns, dolls to try the clothes on, and fabric…oh yes, we have fabric! If you could help. with this project, let us know and we will get you the materials.

What a great tying time we had thanks to all of you. We tied 27 quilts in two days. Most of the quilts were large ones as those are what we are getting requests for from our folks. We are very happy that we had such a successful event.

We will be meeting this coming Monday on President’s Day, February 19, 2024 in our area at KMVT from 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM. We will be working at our usual jobs creating another edition of our beautiful quilts. If you can cut, we have lots of scraps to be turned into usable squares.

Because we tied so many quilts, we have a large number to bind. You can find those quilts near the front door. Most are ready to bind having been nicely trimmed for you. There is a finished quilt corner to look at if this is your first time to bind. We bind from the back rather than the front.

If you would like to make some tops, here are the sizes we need:
infants, youth, and bunk. We are covered for the rest of the quilt sizes at this time.

There are boxes of fat quarters and precuts that you can choose from to make a quilt top. We can help you find them. If you would rather make a top that is ready to piece with colors chosen and pieces cut, we have those, too. Just ask to look at the quilt kits.
